What is Scrum Poker?

A collaborative estimation technique for agile development teams. Each person picks a card for the effort or relative size of a task without seeing the others, so nobody anchors on the first number said out loud.

How it works

1. Create or join a room: start a new estimation session or join an existing one.
2. Discuss the task: the team talks through the user story or task to be estimated.
3. Vote in private: each team member picks a card on their own.
4. Reveal votes: all cards turn over at the same time, which keeps the estimates unbiased.
5. Discuss and re-vote: if the spread is wide, talk it through and vote again.

• Consider complexity, not just time
• Use relative sizing rather than absolute time
• Don't overthink: the first instinct is often right
• Re-vote if the estimates vary a lot
